This course explores the history of musical theatre, tracing its development from its
early roots to its modern-day form. Students will study key works, influential figures, and
significant periods in the history of musical theatre. The course will examine musical
theatre’s evolution in the context of American culture and its global impact. Applicable toward graduation at Sandburg where program structure permits: Degree or Certificate: AA, AS, AGS, and Certificates where applicable (1.1)
