Industrial Maintenance, AAS

This degree program is designed for persons who want to prepare for employment as industry machinery mechanic, maintenance worker or stationary engineer, and boiler operator. The curriculum provides for a student to learn the skills which are necessary to industrial maintenance and gives the student the flexibility to choose the track where their aptitude lies - electricity or welding.

Industrial Maintenance AAS program goals

Electrical track

• Demonstrate comprehension of a block diagram of a digital system and a reasonably complex logic diagram.
• Describe industrial electronic control methods and the operating characteristics of solid state control devices.
• Discuss where and why VFD’s are used in industry and the power flow through VFD.
• Identify the various methods of industrial process control.

Welding track

• Demonstrate comprehension of a block diagram of a digital system and a reasonably complex logic diagram.
• Describe industrial electronic control methods and the operating characteristics of solid state control devices.
• Demonstrate proficiency in industrial applications for oxyacetylene cutting, plasma cutting and air arc welding processes.
• Discuss the dangers involved in the welding process and demonstrate the proper procedures.
• Demonstrate proficiency in striking an arc and running a quality weld bead.
