Basic Industrial Maintenance Certificate

The certificate program provides generalized knowledge of electrical, welding, and manufacturing and industrial processes giving the program graduates knowledge and skill to be general maintenance workers in a variety of industrial, manufacturing, utilities, telecommunications, and transportation settings.
The certificate is the first semester for the Industrial Maintenance A.A.S. degree.
Basic Industrial Maintenance Certificate program goals
- Perform necessary electrical circuit measurements using industry-recognized equipment
- Understand and demonstrate workplace safety principles
- Know and use schematic symbols from various disciplines
- Differentiate between types of welding processes
- Demonstrate proper operation of different industrial machines, including a drill press, lathe and CNC

Building G offers classroom space, a computer lab and houses Sandburg’s industrial programs. The electrical lab features a host of components to aid in student learning including AC/DC trainers. Instruction is delivered by individuals with industry-specific expertise and includes specialized coursework using technical equipment. The College’s welding lab offers 26 bay stations. The welding area offers welding simulators, as well as state of the art multi process welding machines. The CNC Program offers training in programming, setup, and operations while housing multiple lathe, mills, and CNC Machines as well as simulators to properly train students for a career in the machining industry. |
