The Automotive Technology Certificate program is designed to provide graduates with the fundamental skills and knowledge needed to successfully enter the automotive repair industry. Through a comprehensive curriculum, students gain expertise in diagnosing and repairing automotive systems while prioritizing safety and ethical conduct. With a focus on emerging technologies and industry standards, our program prepares students for successful careers in automotive repair and maintenance, emphasizing professionalism and teamwork. Graduates are well-positioned to pursue industry certifications and secure entry-level positions in the automotive repair industry.
Automotive Technology Certificate program learning outcomes
Upon completion of the program, graduates will be able to:
- Apply automotive safety standards and shop protocols to perform inspection, diagnosis, maintenance, and repair activities in a professional automotive service environment.
- Evaluate engine, drivetrain, climate control, braking and electrical systems to identify service needs and recommend corrective actions appropriate for entry-level automotive technicians.
- Document automotive service and repair activities accurately, using industry-appropriate terminology, service records, and diagnostic documentation practices.
- Communicate effectively with customers and team members by explaining vehicle concerns, repair procedures, and maintenance recommendations in a clear and professional manner.
- Demonstrate professionalism, ethical behavior, and teamwork consistent with expectations of the automotive repair industry, including reliability, accountability, and respect for workplace roles.
- Prepare for industry-recognized certifications by demonstrating foundational competencies aligned with Automotive Service Excellence (ASE) entry-level knowledge areas.
