Basic Agriculture Certificate

This one-semester program will train graduates for entry-level positions in the agriculture sector represented in the agriculture career cluster pathway. Students will have flexibility to choose agriculture electives in their desired career field. Positions could include: Production Workers, Farmhands, Sales Representatives, Animal Caretakers, Landscaping and Lawn Servicers, Nursery and Greenhouse Workers, and Customer Service Representatives.
Basic Agriculture Certificate program goals
- Explore career opportunities in the agriculture career cluster pathway
- Understand basic concepts of animal science, plant science, soil science, horticulture, agribusiness management, agricultural mechanics, and agricultural resources
- Demonstrate basic technical and mathematical skills commonly utilized in entry-level agricultural positions
- Develop basic employability and soft skills including accountability, work ethic, communication, and conflict resolution
Admission to the program: Open
First-time enrollees
- Complete an application for admission and, if desired, apply for financial aid.
- Send an official high school transcript or GED score report to the Admissions and Records Office.
- Complete the placement exam.
- Meet with a Student Success Advocate/Advisor to select classes and complete the registration process.
