Basic Agriculture Certificate

This one-semester program will train graduates for entry-level positions in the agriculture sector represented in the agriculture career cluster pathway. Students will have flexibility to choose agriculture electives in their desired career field. Positions could include: Production Workers, Farmhands, Sales Representatives, Animal Caretakers, Landscaping and Lawn Servicers, Nursery and Greenhouse Workers, and Customer Service Representatives.

Basic Agriculture Certificate Program Goals

  • Explore career opportunities in the agriculture career cluster pathway
  • Understand basic concepts of animal science, plant science, soil science, horticulture, agribusiness management, agricultural mechanics, and agricultural resources
  • Demonstrate basic technical and mathematical skills commonly utilized in entry-level agricultural positions
  • Develop basic employability and soft skills including accountability, work ethic, communication, and conflict resolution

Admission to the Program: Open

First Time Enrollees

  1. Complete an application for admission and, if desired, apply for financial aid.
  2. Send an official high school transcript or GED score report to the Admissions and Records Office.
  3. Complete the placement exam.
  4. Meet with an advisor/counselor to select classes and complete the registration process.
