NAD 108 - Health Assessment & Clinical Reasoning

This course provides the framework for preparing students to perform comprehensive health assessments on adult clients utilizing the nursing process and focusing on the development of clinical reasoning. Emphasis is placed on taking a thorough nursing history, performing physiological, psychological, sociological, developmental, cultural, and spiritual assessments, as well as identification of patient safety, health risks, and stressors. Using the techniques of inspection, palpation, percussion, and auscultation, the student will be able to complete a systematic head to toe physical assessment of the adult client. Emphasis is also placed on analyzing the data collected, including laboratory and diagnostic testing results and proper recording and documentation of assessed findings. Laboratory experiences provide an opportunity to practice assessment skills. Minimum grade of “C” is required in order to pass the course.

Corequisites: NAD 105 , NAD 106 

Practical Nursing Program - Prerequisites: NAD 106 , NUP 124 
Corequisites: NUP 125 NAD 130 

All corequisites must be completed with a grade of C or better to progress in the program.
