ART 113 - Art: 1400 to Present Day

This course is a historical survey of the art of Western Civilization from the early Renaissance to present-day. The course focuses on the study of architecture, sculpture, painting and other appropriate art forms to lead the student to an understanding of art, processes of cultural and artistic development, and the influences of those developments on the culture in which we live. This is an essential foundation course for students intending to pursue a baccalaureate degree in art. It is also beneficial for students intending to pursue baccalaureate degrees in the humanities or social sciences. This course is intended as the second part of a two-part course sequence, preceded by ART 112, and students will benefit most from it if completed in that sequence.
