Corporate and Leisure College

The Corporate and Leisure College of Carl Sandburg College provides workshops, classes, educational day trips, and events to inspire learning that enriches lives both professionally and personally. Programs are designed to attract everyone with a desire to learn, regardless of previous academic experience or career path. The following services promote lifelong learning from children to adults. Current course schedules can be viewed online at http://sandburg.edu/Academics/Corporate-Leisure-College/index.html

Corporate College

The Carl Sandburg College Corporate College serves as the primary contact for all inquiries from the business and industrial community. The Corporate College staff will assist businesses of any size, analyze their needs, and will work to arrange appropriate college services, i.e., credit classes, non-credit classes, seminars, workshops, on-site training programs or customized training.

The Corporate College is located at the Center for Manufacturing Excellence (CME) on the main campus. Training classes may be held at the college or at the company’s location depending on their needs. Corporate College business classes are also available through the Carthage campus, respectively.

Leisure College

The Leisure College classes are held at various locations throughout the district and include non-credit general interest classes for personal growth and enjoyment. Classes in the following areas may be offered: history, art, computers, gardening, crafts, cooking, fitness and more. Our educational day trips provide individuals with a chance to explore interesting topics and visit unique places.

Community education classes and day trips are advertised through the Corporate and Leisure schedule. Detailed information is available online at http://sandburg.edu/Academics/Corporate-Leisure-College/index.html. Classes are designed for various age and interest groups. Suggestions and ideas are always encouraged and should be given to the Leisure College staff.

Youth Programs

Past offerings include summer programs designed to give youth an opportunity to explore professional careers in health care, manufacturing, criminal justice, and computer coding. The programs offer short-term classes that are designed to challenge students and inspire learning in a fun environment without the pressure to complete homework assignments or earn good grades. Participants learn about the various professional fields through hands-on activities, company tours, guest speakers and more. In addition to the career exploration programs, young athletes have gained firsthand instruction from Carl Sandburg College coaches and players at sports camps for cross country, basketball, volleyball, softball and soccer. Summer programs are on Sandburg’s Main Campus in Galesburg and at various community business locations.

The Kids on Campus summer program attracts students in grades K-6 from across the College’s district and is offered in Carthage. Kids on Campus is open to all students, regardless of academic standing. Courses have included the following subject areas: art, science, math, history, writing, cooking, health, physical fitness, performing arts, astronomy, music, and more. Summer program flyers are distributed to area schools in April or May each year. Additional information for youth programs is listed online at http://sandburg.edu/Academics/Corporate-Leisure-College/index.html
